Childcare Fees in Maroubra

How much does childcare cost at MJEEC in Maroubra?

Daily fees in 2026 are $189 in the Nursery (6 weeks–2 years), $184 in Toddlers (2–3 years) and $162 in Preschool 1 and 2 (3–6 years). Fees include nappies, all meals, sunscreen, martial arts, yoga and music. We close for two weeks at Christmas and charge no fees during the closure.

  • Nursery (6 weeks–2 years) — $189 per day
  • Toddlers (2–3 years) — $184 per day
  • Preschool 1 and 2 (3–6 years) — $162 per day

These are our full daily fees before Child Care Subsidy, and almost nobody pays them. A family on $120,000 with a four-year-old here three days a week pays about $21 a day out of pocket. Work out your own number below. There is no enrolment fee and no bond.

Fee estimator

The sticker price is not what you pay.

Almost every family here receives the Child Care Subsidy, and most four-year-olds also receive NSW Start Strong fee relief. This works out what actually leaves your account each week. It takes about twenty seconds.

How many days a week?
$
Your household’s combined estimated taxable income for the year. Nothing you type here is sent anywhere.
Do you and your partner each work, study or volunteer more than 48 hours a fortnight?
Every eligible family now gets at least 72 subsidised hours a fortnight under the 3 Day Guarantee. More than 48 hours of recognised participation lifts that to 100. For couples it is assessed on whichever parent does fewer hours.
Is this your eldest child in care?
Second and younger children aged 5 or under are assessed on a higher subsidy scale.
Will your child be 4 or older by 31 July?
MJEEC is a funded Start Strong service. Fee relief is applied automatically as a weekly reduction to your gap fee.

How this is worked out

Your subsidy is the lower of our hourly fee or the government’s hourly rate cap of $15.19, multiplied by your subsidy percentage, for up to your entitled number of subsidised hours.

  • Our day runs 7am to 6pm, so a day is 11 hours of care. Nursery works out at $17.18 an hour and Toddlers at $16.73, both above the cap, so those are subsidised at $15.19. Preschool is $14.73 an hour, which is below the cap, so it is subsidised on our actual fee.
  • Subsidy percentage: 90% for combined incomes up to $88,520, then reducing by 1% for every extra $5,000, reaching zero at $538,520. A younger sibling aged 5 or under is assessed on a separate, higher scale.
  • Subsidised hours: 72 a fortnight for every eligible family, or 100 a fortnight with more than 48 hours of recognised participation. At 11 hours a day, five days a week comes to 110 hours a fortnight, so the last 10 hours sit outside the subsidy.
  • Services Australia withholds 5% of your subsidy through the year and returns it at tax time if you have not been overpaid. We include that here because it is money that actually leaves your account.
  • Start Strong fee relief is applied after the subsidy, as an equal weekly reduction spread across our operating weeks.

Figures current for the 2026–27 year, which took effect from Monday 6 July 2026.

This is an estimate, not a quote. Your actual subsidy is assessed by Services Australia on your family’s circumstances, and can differ from this figure. It assumes you have a current CCS assessment, that your child is up to date with immunisation requirements, and that a Complying Written Arrangement is in place with us. For your official entitlement use the Services Australia estimator or call them on 136 150. Start Strong fee relief requires a signed declaration and consent form each calendar year. Happy to sit down and go through your actual numbers on a tour.

Need a fourth day without paying for a fourth full day?

The Short Preschool Day runs 8:00am to 3:00pm and sits on top of the preschool days your child already has. Book two full preschool days, then add one, two or three Short Preschool Days. Each one uses seven of your subsidised hours instead of eleven, which for a lot of families is what turns three days of preschool into four.

Fees, subsidy and payment — your questions answered

How much does childcare cost at MJEEC?

Daily fees in 2026 are $189 in the Nursery (6 weeks–2 years), $184 in Toddlers (2–3 years) and $162 in Preschool (3–6 years). These are the full fees before Child Care Subsidy. Most families pay substantially less once subsidy is applied.

What is included in the daily fee?

Everything. Nappies and wipes, all meals and snacks cooked on site by our chef, sunscreen, hats, and our incursion program including martial arts, yoga and musical appreciation. There are no excursion levies, no enrolment fee and no bond, and nothing to pack beyond a change of clothes.

Am I eligible for the Child Care Subsidy?

Most families are. From 6 July 2026, families earning up to $88,520 receive the maximum 90% subsidy. The rate reduces by 1% for every additional $5,000 of family income and cuts out at $538,520. You apply through Services Australia via myGov, not through the centre.

How is my subsidy calculated?

Your subsidy is a percentage of either our hourly fee or the government’s hourly rate cap, whichever is lower. For centre-based care the cap is $15.19 per hour from 6 July 2026. Services Australia also withholds 5% until your income is balanced at tax time. We are happy to walk through your figures on a tour.

How does the 3 Day Guarantee affect my fees?

From 5 January 2026 the activity test was replaced by the 3 Day Guarantee. Every CCS-eligible family now receives at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, or three days a week, regardless of how much you work or study. Families with more than 48 hours of recognised participation can access 100 hours.

Do you receive NSW Start Strong preschool fee relief?

Yes. MJEEC is a funded Start Strong service, and the relief is applied automatically as a weekly reduction to your gap fee after Child Care Subsidy, with no separate application. In 2026 it is worth up to $1,783 a year for children aged 4 and over, and up to $423 for eligible 3-year-olds. A higher rate of $2,563 applies to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Fee relief requires a signed declaration and consent form each calendar year, which we provide.

Is there a minimum number of days?

We ask for a minimum of two days per week, so children build genuine relationships with their educators and settle properly into the rhythm of the room. Which two days is flexible — we will work with what suits your family, subject to availability in your child’s room.

How and when are fees charged?

Fees are paid two weeks in advance by direct debit. Your first payment on enrolment is three weeks of fees, held in advance rather than taken as a bond. When your child leaves, it is applied to their final three weeks of care.

Do I pay for public holidays and the Christmas closure?

Public holidays are charged, which is standard across long day care and holds your child’s place. Our two-week Christmas closure is different, with no fees charged while we are closed. Child Care Subsidy also covers up to 42 absence days per child each financial year, so most families stay subsidised through illness and holidays.

What notice do I need to give if we leave?

We ask for four weeks written notice. The three weeks of fees you paid in advance at enrolment is applied to your final three weeks, so in practice you pay for one further week after giving notice. Nothing is held back.

Subsidy figures current as at July 2026. Child Care Subsidy amounts depend on your family income and are determined by Services Australia, not by the centre. Fee and payment terms are set out in full in our Complying Written Arrangement.
