Experienced Leadership & Long Term Educators in Maroubra

At Maroubra Junction Early Education Centre, our childcare and preschool in Maroubra is led by Lauren, a hands on Director with over 30 years of experience in early childhood education. As a privately owned and operated centre established in Maroubra, Lauren is present daily and actively involved in every aspect of the service, working within the rooms alongside educators and children.

Because we are privately owned, decisions are made onsite with children and families in mind. There is no head office or external management. Families have direct access to leadership and clear communication at all times.

Parents value knowing that an experienced leader is personally overseeing their child’s learning, safety and wellbeing every day.

Our long term educators have built strong, trusted relationships with children and families over many years. This consistency supports emotional security, confidence and a true sense of belonging from nursery through to our preschool program.

As a respected early learning centre in Maroubra, our reputation has been built on professionalism, warmth and genuine care. We are committed to creating a calm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported and excited to learn.

Book a tour today and experience the difference that privately owned, experienced leadership makes.

Two-Year School Readiness Program

MJEEC offers a well-established two-year school readiness program designed to support children in their transition to primary school.

Our preschool classrooms are structured across two stages:

• 3–4 years – First year of the School Readiness Program

• 4–5 years – Second year of the School Readiness Program

This progressive approach allows children to build strong foundations in early literacy and numeracy, social confidence, emotional regulation and independence over time.

At the end of the program, children celebrate their learning journey through a graduation before commencing Kindergarten.

Through structured learning experiences, guided play and consistent educator support, children develop the skills and confidence needed for a successful start to school.

Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

Our Service, educators, and staff are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We understand our responsibilities and statutory duty of care to implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and embed the Child Safe Standards to prevent and respond to allegations of child abuse.

We are committed to implementing our Child Safe Environment Policy, which incorporates the Child Safe Standards and highlights our zero tolerance for child abuse. This policy raises awareness of the importance of child safety and the need to protect children who have experienced or are at risk of significant harm, abuse, or neglect within our Service and the broader community.

Our leadership team actively promotes and models child-safe values and behaviours, ensuring governance, decision-making, and daily practices reflect our unwavering commitment to children’s rights and safety. We engage in regular reflective practice to continuously strengthen our child-safe culture, using staff feedback, incident reviews, audits, and professional learning to guide our improvement.

We ensure all staff, volunteers, and students engaged at our Service are suitable to work with children and young people through rigorous recruitment processes and Working with Children Checks. We uphold our commitment to our Child Protection Policy, ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting and the Reportable Conduct Scheme to safeguard children from physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse and neglect.

We are dedicated to promoting cultural safety and providing an inclusive environment for all children and young people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with a disability, and children with diverse gender identities and experiences. We believe all children are unique and have the right to be protected from discrimination, harm, and abuse.

We actively involve children in developing and reviewing safety practices, using age-appropriate strategies to help them understand their rights and how to seek help. We provide ongoing opportunities for children to learn about personal safety, protective behaviours, respectful relationships, and emotional wellbeing through play-based learning and intentional teaching experiences.

We support the ongoing professional development of all staff to ensure clear understanding of appropriate boundaries and to build confidence in identifying and responding to indicators of harm. Our team is trained to respond appropriately to concerns or disclosures and to foster trusting, responsive relationships with children.

We work in alignment with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and empower children to voice their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. We encourage children to participate in decisions that affect them and actively listen to their input in the development of our policies and procedures.

We value strong partnerships with families, carers, and our wider community. Open and respectful communication is encouraged to support the continuous review and improvement of our child-safe practices, ensuring we create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for every child.
